FAQ: BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • Wear what makes you comfortable! The Harriman-Jewell Series does not have a dress code so you’ll see people wearing jeans, business casual, dresses, and more. Some people enjoy dressing up and making a special night of it while others dress more casually. Most of our audience falls somewhere in between and business casual is always safe. Generally, the only tuxes you'll see are on stage!

  • The Harriman-Jewell Series presents performances in various venues throughout the Kansas City area. Please check your tickets for event venue information!

  • Parking is typically available for Harriman-Jewell Series events in the parking garages adjacent to the performance venues. Pre-paid parking is usually available and can be purchased online or by phone at 816.415.5025 through the day before the event.

    FOLLY THEATER PARKING:
Pre-paid parking passes are available for all reserved-seat performances at the Folly Theater (12th and Central garage, in the same block as the Theater). Pre-paid garage parking passes are $10 per event. Parking passes can be purchased online or by phone at 816.415.5025.

    KAUFFMAN CENTER PARKING:
Pre-paid parking passes for the Arts District Garage (with entrances on 17th St. and Wyandotte St.) are available for all performances at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Garage Parking passes can be purchased online HERE. Parking passes are $13 per event. The Kauffman Center also offers valet parking for $23 (or $26 if purchased the day of the event). Parking passes can be purchased online HERE or by phone at 816.415.5025.

Parking is free for Discovery Concerts! Once you reserve seats, you will receive an email confirmation that contains your tickets and a parking pass.

Detailed parking and concert information will be emailed to you the week of the performance.

  • We love sharing the joy of the performing arts with our audience members of all ages! We send program information, including any adult themes that may be included in a performance, and the performance length before each event so that you can plan accordingly. Many of our events are on the quiet side and audience members should be able to sit fairly still during the performance. Please call us if you have any questions about the performance or age recommendations!

We encourage families to attend our FREE Discovery Concerts which offer full-length performances in our favorite concert venues in Kansas City. Discovery Concerts also include free parking!

Parents of young children - we are thrilled that you want your child to experience the beauty and inspiration that live music and dance provides! You know your child best and whether they are able to enjoy the concert hall experience. Ushers are happy to help guide you to the lobby or another area of the theater if your child becomes restless.

Our box office staff is available to answer any questions or help you purchase seats that are on or near an aisle. Call us at 816.415.5025 or email info@hjseries.org.

  • We recommend allowing yourself plenty of time to park, visit the restroom or bar, take some photos, and get to your seats. Theater lobbies open 60 minutes before an event, with seating typically opening 30 minutes before the performance. For Discovery Concerts, seating opens 60 minutes before the performance.

  • The Harriman-Jewell Series box office is located on the campus of William Jewell College in Liberty, MO and is open Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Harriman-Jewell Series box office opens at the performance venue 90 minutes before the performance start time. If you choose the Will Call option or need your tickets reprinted, those will be held for you to pick up the day of the event. For assistance, please call 816.415.5025 or email info@hjseries.org.

We also offer a print-at-home option that allows you to either print your tickets or show a barcode on your phone at the door!

  • We are happy to help! For paid performances, please contact us at 816.415.5025, info@hjseries.org, or stop by the box office the day of the event to request reprinted tickets. The box office opens at the venue 90 minutes before the start of the performance.

DURING and after A PERFORMANCE

  • Most performances run between 1 and 2 hours, including an intermission.

Performance lengths vary but information about a specific performance is available on the event page or in the pre-performance email notes prior to the event. Or call us at 816.415.5025 the week of the performance to learn more about program length.

  • Some artists allow and encourage audience members to take photos or videos during a performance! Others do not. This information will be listed in the printed program and/or announced from the stage prior to the performance. You are always welcome to take photos and videos in the lobby or in your seats before or after the performance, including during a Q&A!

We love to see your photos from events! Share your photos on social media and tag us with @hjseries!

  • Bar service that includes drinks (coffee, tea, water, soft drinks, and alcohol) and snacks is available before and during performances at the Folly Theater and Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Bars at these locations accept cash and credit cards. Please check signage or talk to the staff or ushers with questions about bringing drinks into the theater.

  • Many artists graciously host a free post-performance Q&A session with the audience. All audience members are encouraged to stay in the theater after the performance and get to know the artists a little better!

If time allows, some artists will autograph programs following this Q&A. Autograph sessions take place in the lobby.

Check signage the day of the performance to learn more.
