The Stradivarius Ensemble of the Mariinsky Orchestra; Valery Gergiev, conductor

  • Helzberg Hall | Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts 1601 Broadway Kansas City, MO, 64108 United States (map)
Valery Gergiev

Valery Gergiev

The titanic Valery Gergiev usually works on the larger canvas of symphonic orchestras but, for this rare event, Gergiev will focus his white-hot energy on the lead players of the Mariinsky Orchestra, joined by the world-acclaimed and Kansas City-based pianists Behzod Abduraimov and Stanislav Ioudenitch for Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos.

Ioudenitch, who won the gold medal at the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2011, is artistic director of the International Center for Music at Park University. Abduraimov, winner of the grand prize at the 2009 London International Piano Competition, studied with Ioudenitch at Park University and is currently an ICM artist-in-residence.

"It’s a great opportunity for us to pair Behzod and Stanislav together with Gergiev and this ensemble" Series director Clark Morris said. "It’ll be a great celebration of what Kansas City has been able to produce and nurture.”
