Two of today’s greatest American voices will join with pianist Craig Terry for a dream program of operatic arias, spirituals, and selections from the American songbook. The power duo will tag in and out on solo works and then join together for several duets throughout the evening.

In the operatic first half of the program, audience members will thrill to hear Brownlee's vocal agility when performing favorite arias such as "Ah! mes amis" from La fille du regiment with its famous nine high Cs, in pleasing contrast to Owens' deep and resonant voice singing basso gems such as "Infelice! E tuo credevi" from Ernani.

The program's second half is dedicated to spirituals such as Deep River, Come By Here, Every Time I Feel the Spirit, and Give Me Jesus, along with a generous sampling of American songs from the 20th-century's musical stage and hit parade.

Tenor Lawrence Brownlee first sang for the Harriman-Jewell Series in 2009 on his brilliant path toward being hailed one of the "world’s leading bel canto tenors” by the Associated Press. The New York Times named Brownlee as one of three tenors in “a new golden age of high male voices.“

Bass-Baritone Eric Owens was just named Musical America’s 2017 Vocalist of the Year. Through his powerful poise and expansive voice, Owens “speaks to you even in his silences…and shakes you when he sings” according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Friends on and off stage, Brownlee and Owens are in high demand by top opera companies, orchestras, and presenters around the globe.
